In 1950s Tehran, seven-year-old Ellie forms an unexpected friendship with Homa, a bold and outspoken girl whose dreams reach far beyond the limits society places on women. As they grow up, the two friends find themselves pulled onto very different paths.

Set against the backdrop of decades of political upheaval in Iran, The Lion Women of Tehran follows Ellie’s life as she struggles to reconcile loyalty, ambition, and the complicated bonds of friendship. The novel explores the ways personal choices intersect with history, and how courage and resilience can shape a life.
